For this project, I decided to recreate different outfits of women in my family from photos of them using the clothes I wear currently. While I was flipping through photo albums, I noticed a lot of similarities in outfits and style choices. I think it's interesting how fashion comes full circle often times. The photos I recreated were from the late 80s and early 90s. I think it's strange that my clothes are similar to those decades. I think this project is less about the photos themselves and more about the action of me recreating them.
Future
For this project, the future I created is a future if the world ran out of water. I photographed scenes in Oklahoma City so they seem more personal and close to home. I wanted the photos to look very deserted and warm. The first one is a landscape of downtown OKC with no greenery. I photoshopped the city to be a little bigger since it's a little further into the future. The second on is an interior shot of a house with sand coming in it. The third one is Lake Hefner with no water and a boat stranded out in the middle. My favorite one is definitely the first one because it looks the most realistic and the construction site worked really well with the Salt Plains image.
Final Project // Glass Castle by Jeanette Walls
After reading the Glass Castle by Jeanette Walls, I was really drawn to the relationship between her and her family members because they have an interesting connection with one another. I thought about the relationship between me behind the camera and the person in front of the camera when they have no relationship at all to me. So I photographed strangers so I could see the awkward or uncomfortable expression on their faces. My favorite ones that I think turned out the best are the taxi driver and the donut store guy.
