When I thought about nature, I thought about how we separate ourselves from nature and we only come into contact with it when we want to. We control when we are involved in it or not. We live our lives mostly indoors and only go outside in between going from one indoor to another. I realized that it's strange that we separate ourselves, but then we take plants inside to make it feel more like a home. It's weird to me that we have both real and fake plants and when often let the real ones die. I decided to photography real plants and fake plants within my own house. I started to notice that the fake plants looked very painterly because the texture was different. I was interested in the way I composed each shot to make them each unique.
PROJECT 2 // Intimacy & Distance
When thinking about intimacy, I was thinking about different spaces in people's house that are more private and personal. Whenever, I go to someone's house, I'm always a little bit curious to see what's in their medicine cabinet and/or fridge because it's different than mine in the products they purchase and the way it's organized. I took 2 photos at each person's house- one of their medicine cabinet and the other of inside their fridge. I wanted to be able to compare and see each person's personality in their cabinets and fridge.
